The holiday season is upon us, where has this year gone? Tomorrow we will be gathering with close friends and family members to give thanks for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us. Regardless if you are having a feast with relatives and watching some Football or you have a tradition of going to whichever eatery remains open for day, be sure to take some time out to sincerely bask in all that you have and are thankful for.
After the feast, most of us will find ourselves in a turkey-coma on the couch watching the Packers take on the Lions, the Ravens and Steelers, or the Raiders battling it out with the Cowboys; regardless if your team is playing this day or not, these are all good match-ups to glue ourselves to the television. However, there are the others who partake in a different extreme full-contact sport; those brave souls who willingly weather the storms for the perfect SALE. Black Friday has, over the years, been ramped up to be one this nation’s all-inclusive sports for the masses to congregate at their local malls and department stores in search of closeout fashioned prices. In order to alleviate the stress and chaos most stores have started to open earlier and earlier, some even on Thanksgiving night (assuming all the trimmings have been hung and food devoured.) The shopping done on the day of Thanksgiving is considered buying on Blue Thursday, pretty soon the entire week surrounding this holiday will be color-coordinated respectively. There are also “blue laws” that outlaw shopping on Thanksgiving in Rhode Island, Maine, and Massachusetts (Wow!) Another way stores have attempted at reducing the disorder of the holiday shopping, is by the introduction of Cyber Monday in 2005. Early on many online retailers were seeing a 77% increase in their e-commerce sales the Monday following Thanksgiving, quickly becoming one of the busiest shopping days of the year, possibly surpassing Black Friday in year to come.
So whether you are brave enough to face the harsh weather and wait the lines in crowded department stores or stare relentlessly into your computer screen searching for the best possible deals; you will surely find exactly what you, and more importantly your loved ones, are looking for this holiday season.
Best Holiday Wishes from the Venture Team Family to Yours!
