Weegee’s Lounge
The vintage cocktail lounge now known as Weegee’s Lounge has been in service for close to a century. It has seen several incarnations as the neighborhood around it has gradually transformed from a quiet residential neighborhood to the more artsy commercial district that encompasses it now. Throughout most of the changes, Weegee’s Lounge has maintained a classic speakeasy ambiance, with an intricately detailed tin roof, classic glass and wood bar, and Victorian décor.
Named after the nickname of famed photographer Arthur Fellig from the 1930s era, the walls of Weegee’s are graced with his works along with black and white photos, and to top off the vintage feel, the new owners, Alex Huebner and his wife have placed a classic, working, black and white photo booth in the back corner. Weegee’s achieves its classic, retro feel using the authentic paraphernalia of a well-worn tavern.
Fairways Of Chicago
Fairways is a place with a difference, it is a sports bar with golf, food, and shuffleboard- in other words it’s a sports haven. Located at 1141 W Armitage in Chicago Illinois, Fairways is becoming a popular venue to catch games or play some simulated golf. The place boasts of 18 local beers on draft, deep craft beer bottle list, various whiskeys and wines as well as seasonal custom cocktails. You’ll find their shuffleboard spot just as appealing, as it is located in a warm and cozy, barn wood nook area right next to the main bar on the first floor.
